Job Description

studiocake is seeking a part-time or freelance Draftsperson to deliver as principal drafter and point-person to lead all drawing-related documents within a project. They will communicate directly with the studiocake team to translate design concepts into technical drawings, and ensure all deliverables and services are consistent with the design intent and studio standards.

The ideal candidate MUST have expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD (2D), and extensive professional experience in furniture plans, custom furniture/millwork detailing, and shop drawings. They must have excellent graphic/written/verbal communication skills, and have a strong desire to excel and lead in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

While this is a remote position, you will be expected to complete site visits, site measurements and project errands as required. studiocake is a Florida based company; Miami, Florida or NYC residents preferred.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and manage all drawings (i.e. plans, elevations, custom furniture/millwork details) for assigned projects concurrently.
Translate design concepts and creative direction from the studiocake team into detailed technical drawings.
Ability to field measure and document existing conditions.
Conduct project site visits and project errands to ensure standards and schedules are met.
Liaise with architects and engineers to gather structural requirements/designs and adjust drawings according to their recommendations.
Follow specifications and calculate dimensions, weight limitations, and material requirements.
Lead correspondence and coordination with all vendors, builders, and subcontractors to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of work.
Identify/communicate potential issues and provide design solutions as required.
Ensure all designs comply with applicable state regulations and building codes.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture.
Minimum 4 years professional experience at an architecture firm and extensive prior experience with high-end hospitality and residential projects.
Expertise-level proficiency in AutoCAD (2D), Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace.
Extensive professional experience in hospitality and residential furniture plans, custom millwork, custom furniture, and shop drawings.
Proficiency to read and interpret architectural drawings and design documentation.
Understanding of design and construction terms, scheduling and planning concepts.
Strong organizational skills, presentation skills and attention to detail.
Excellent math and communication skills to convey information clearly and concisely.
Maintain a positive attitude with a growth mindset.
Detail-oriented with ability to meet fast-paced deadlines.
Extensive knowledge of compliance with building codes and regulations.
Must be authorized to work in the USA.
Additional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) is a plus.
