Join Well-Designed and Edward Fields for an important roundtable on a topic that’s critical for our community in order to nurture, promote, evolve and advance sustainable design.

A gathering of top experts will focus on how to foster communication, collaboration and connection among various fields within the sustainable design and build landscape. The discussion with explore the inherent interdependence of these various roles in sustainable design:

- interior design

- media

- fabrication/manufacturing

- environmental science

- education

You’ll leave with an understanding of the current sustainable practices, needs and responsibilities of each area and how, through communication, we can better understand and support one another to streamline, innovate and add velocity and meaningful impact to our practice of sustainable design.

ROUNDTABLE EXPERTS

Media: Kaitlin Petersen, Business of Home editor in chief. Kaitlin has been writing about style and design for a decade, and her work has appeared in Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Metropolitan Home and Veranda, as well as Chicago, Texas Monthly, Time Out New York, and the international editions of Vanity Fair and Vogue.

Interior Design: Laurence Carr, CEO of Laurence Carr Inc., founder of Studio Laurence, and host of Chez Laurence on EarthXTV, is a Healthy Materials Lab certified, Living Future accredited regenerative designer, and the recipient of many sustainable interior design awards.

Fabrication/Manufacturing: Emily Gordin, Design Director of fabrication and design studio Veratate, specializes in regenerative material economies, as well as developing new kinds of natural materials and innovating fabrication methods for novel materials.

Environmental Science: Madeleine MacGillivray, specialist in microplastics pollution research and legislation, climate change, water issues and more eco-challenges, speaks at events globally communicating complex environmental issues with creativity, compassion and empathy.

Education: Laura Sansone, textile designer, activist and consultant is the creator of the design and consulting company New York Textile Lab, providing resources to help designers make better decisions about their social and environmental investments and is Assistant Professor of Textiles at Parsons School of Design.
